How to overcome your phobia

Fears are completely normal and sometimes happen to be a beneficial response, it warning us of dangers to avert harm from us. Fear protects ancient mankind from dangerous animals and fire. Often, in most cases, the fear occurs in situations that actually represent no danger to our lives. This type of fear can manifest itself in many different ways: fear of flying, fear of spiders, snake or other animals, fear of injections, driving with the elevator, fear of large squares, exam anxiety, fear of heights and much more.

What they all have in common is a strong fear of the object or the situation with different degrees of physical symptoms (eg. rapid heartbeat, sweating, shaking, dizziness, etc.) that is not appropriate to the actual situation. The fear is not explainable for the person concerned and usually overwhelming. The fears lead to a significant impairment of the quality of life. There are hundreds of different kinds of fears/phobias affecting millions of people around the globe.

The definition of fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the threat of danger, pain, or harm. This unpleasant emotion destroys our happiness, success and peace so it’s important to overcome these phobias controlling you. Here are some effective techniques to eradicate your phobias and set you free.

Visualization:

Visualization is one of the most effective ways of treating phobia yourself.  All you have to do is visualize your worst fears and phobia in your mind and prepare to confront them. If you had the fear of public speaking imagine you are in a large group and visualize yourself talking, by regular practice you can easily conquer your fear.

Face the fear:

This method is most hard for many, but the most effective one. Once you start facing the fear from the next moment your old story is history. Facing your fear needs courage and willingness to take responsibilities. It’s not an easy one but remember this is a life changer. If you stay in a situation long enough (or continue engaging in a specific activity), your anxiety will start to reduce. This is because anxiety takes a lot of energy and at some point, it “runs out of gas”. The longer you face something, the more you get used to it and the less anxious you will feel when you face it again.

Hypnosis:

Our phobias and fears are rooted and stored inside our subconscious mind, so what could be better cutting the root and dissolving these mechanisms in subconsciousness? Understand your fear and worries completely:

If you understand your fear you get easily convinced that most of them were a trivial and exaggerated version of your worst outcome possibilities. Usually, worries give a small thing a big shadow. Once Lau said there is no illusion greater than fear. So study about your fear and analyze its real threat. Meditation and mindfulness exercises are helpful in removing fear.
